A novel idea!

Today our travels took us to Ajijic, Chapala and Tlaquepaque. In Ajijic, I presented my book “Magic Made in Mexico” and you can read about that on my other blog: www.magicmadeinmexico.com

We had great fun while in Ajijic but in Tlaquepaque, we saw something really very different…

I so enjoy seeing young people get a good idea and run with it… and today we saw a most unusual one. A group of seven local young women have formed their own mariachi band and are they ever good!

They sang all of the traditional songs and with gusto that would make Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez sit up and take notice.

Their group is called “Mariachi Feminil Versatil.” When I asked one of the members how they had come up with this idea, she said, “We are not the first female mariachi band… other great women showed us the way.” Then she added, “We formed our group because we love this music and want to keep it alive.” Well, all I can say is, You go girls!

The card they gave me has no electronic address but they play daily at 3 pm at El Patio Restaurant ( a great place with good food and excellent service) Contact them at: www.elpatio.com.mx I imagine they would be able to put you in touch with the group.
